Do you know for sure that when you die you will go to live with Christ?

Many in this world do not know. Many believe that when they die, that’s it…. They just return to the ground from where they were made. Many just don’t care.

There are many views concerning what happens after death, Views ranging from ‘nothing at all’ to ‘annihilation’ to ‘eternal torment in the lake of fire and brimstone.’ To find what happens to the one who dies without Christ, one only need to look into the Word of God for the answer.

In Revelation, we read:

Revelation 20:6 (KJV) Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Here, we learn two important truths.

First, we learn that those who are part of the first resurrection will be priests of God and of Christ and that they will reign with Christ for a thousand years in His Millennial Kingdom.

Second, we learn that those who are not part of the first resurrection will fall under the power of the second death. What is this second death that the Apostle John speaks of? We find the answer in verse 14, where we read:

Revelation 20:14 (KJV) And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

John reveals to the reader that the second death is the destruction of death and hell in the lake of fire. After death and hell are cast into the lake of fire, John reveals that

Revelation 20:15 (KJV) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

So, are those who are cast into the lake of fire annihilated? If we are to believe John’s vision, we can come to no other conclusion but that they are not annihilated. They continue to live in the lake of fire for all eternity, conscious of the burning and unable to find relief.

How can we be so sure that one is not annihilated in that flame? The Word of God again helps us to understand this fact. In 1st Corinthians 15, we read:

1 Corinthians 15:26 (KJV) The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

God’s Word is clear… death will be destroyed and it will be the last enemy to be destroyed. John revealed to us in Revelation 20:14 that death is cast into the lake of fire. Paul reveals that death will be the last enemy destroyed. When death is cast into that lake of fire, it will be destroyed.

The unsaved; the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, will all be cast into that lake of fire AFTER death has been destroyed. If death has been destroyed, it will be impossible for those that are unsaved to be annihilated… utterly impossible. They will live for all eternity in the lake of fire.

Our Lord Jesus Christ affirmed this in the Gospel of Matthew, when He said:

Matthew 25:46 (KJV)And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Yes, my friend, the lake of fire is a place of everlasting punishment. And those who find themselves there will find that there is no escaping the torments of that place.

So again, I have to ask… Do you know for sure that when you die you will go to live with Christ?
