The Land of the Tithe

Leviticus 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD.

According to Leviticus 27:30, God’s holy tithe was to come from the land,… “And all the tithe of the land, whether it be of the seed,…”

What “land” is God speaking of here? It may surprise some readers to discover that God was not speaking of the entire world in Leviticus 27:30. Rather, He was speaking of a SPECIFIC GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION.

Can I prove this with the Bible? If I couldn’t, I wouldn’t have said it.

Grab your Bible and turn to Deuteronomy 12. I’ll wait,…

Let’s begin in verse 1.

Deuteronomy 12:1 These are the statutes and judgments, which ye shall observe to do in the land, which the LORD God of thy fathers giveth thee to possess it, all the days that ye live upon the earth.

God is speaking to a SPECIFIC PEOPLE in Deuteronomy 12:1, e.g.; the children of Israel. The command to tithe was given to the children of Israel.

Leviticus 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD.
Leviticus 27:31 And if a man will at all redeem ought of his tithes, he shall add thereto the fifth part thereof.
Leviticus 27:32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.
Leviticus 27:33 He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.
Leviticus 27:34 These are the commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses FOR THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL in mount Sinai.

It was not given to any other people on Earth.

Psalm 147:19 He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.
Psalm 147:20 He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them. Praise ye the LORD..

The children of Israel had left Egypt and the unjust oppression of Pharaoh they had been under there forty years earlier.

After forty years of wandering in the wilderness, the Israelites were getting ready to enter the land that had been promised their forefathers,… the land of Canaan.

Genesis 12:6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.
Genesis 12:7 And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.

Genesis 28:12 And he dreamed, and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
Genesis 28:13 And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed;
Genesis 28:14 And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth, and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.
Genesis 28:15 And, behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of.

God is now giving the children of Israel guidelines that He expects them to obey once they enter the land that He was giving to them.

Read on,…

Deuteronomy 12:10 But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the LORD your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ye dwell in safety;
Deuteronomy 12:11 Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there; thither shall ye bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ye vow unto the LORD:

Deuteronomy 12:10-11 reveals to the reader that the “land” which Leviticus 27:30 was speaking of was the land of Canaan. Once the children of Israel took possession of the land of Canaan, and were safe from their enemies, THEN they were to begin tithing.

So, Leviticus 27:30 is not speaking of a worldwide, global tithe. It is speaking of a centralized tithe…

…restricted to the land of Canaan.

Further, Leviticus 27:30 tells us that God’s tithe was to consist of SPECIFIC THINGS. It was to come from agricultural increase,… not from the money that the children of Israel earned or had.

A careful study of the word of God will reveal to the reader that God never told anyone in the Bible to give ten percent of their money to any religious entity or to any religious institution.

His commanded tithe has always been agricultural increase. It was not to come from anyone’s weekly/bi-weekly/monthly monetary income.

Pastor’s have handled the word of God deceitfully and have twisted the word of God into a lie; turning God’s holy tithe into a tithe of man’s unrighteous mammon. They have redefined both the elements, and the location of God’s holy tithe. By doing so, it is no longer God’s tithe they preach and observe.

The monetary tithe requirement doctrine that is being taught in religious institutions around the world today is totally foreign to the word of God.
