One Thing is Needful
by Ronald W Robey
Luke 10:37 And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
38 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.
40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
In Luke 10:38-42 Jesus rebuked Martha for wanting her sister to leave Jesus’ side and attend to household duties. Mary had rather chosen to sit at Jesus’ feet and listen to the words of Jesus.
Jesus told Martha that, while Martha saw what she was doing as being important, she needed to realize that other things are also important.
We see much the same today. Many a Pastor or layman does not understand when another Pastor or layman is not alongside them in their doctrine, not agreeing with their beliefs
Hear again, the words of Jesus…
“She hath chosen the good part.”
While many Pastors and laymen are going about doing things their way, preaching and teaching doctrines that are totally foreign to the word of God, there are others who have “chosen the good part”…they are hearing the words of Jesus rather than the words of deceptive sermons.
If you are one such person that complains because a Pastor or layman is not agreeing with false doctrine, one thing is needful…stop complaining about those who are hearing and continuing the word of truth.
Their part is not to be taken away from them.
