From Liar to Extortioner
by Ronald W Robey
Extortion: The obtaining of property from another, with his consent, induced by wrongful use of actual or threatened force, violence, or fear, or under color of official right.
Pastors who collect monetary tithes under “the color of official right,” through “threatened violence or fear”…are by the very definition of the word…Extortioners.
God never gave pastors authority to teach a monetary tithe requirement, so when those pastors teach the doctrine they are guilty of lying. When members of the congregation yield to the doctrine of a monetary tithe requirement, the pastors status of liar has been elevated to that of extortioner.
Whether the pastor is taking monetary tithes for his own selfish gain, or for the coffers of the religious institution he presides over, it is still extortion. It is obtaining the property of others under the color of official right when the Bible gives no such right to pastors.
