Made Free

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

I like how Jesus formed his words in John 8:32,

Notice that Jesus did not say, “…the truth shall set you free.” He said, “…the truth shall make you free.”

There is a difference.

A dishonest jailer could open a prison cell and let an inmate out of prison, setting him free. However, if that prisoner has not served out his sentence, or if he has not been pardoned by the Governor, he will be hunted down and returned to prison to serve out the rest of his sentence plus any additional time for escaping.

However, if he has served his sentence, or if he has been pardoned, then he is made free…completely free; without having to look over his shoulder every time he hears a siren.

Through believing on Jesus’ name…we have been made free; with no need to worry of one day ending up in the lake of fire and brimstone.

Now, that is something to shout about!
