Nehemiah 10:37-38 And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage. And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes unto the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house.

Luke 4:16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

I find it interesting that while it was customary for Jesus to read the Books of the Law in the synagogue, He never once told anyone to bring/take tithes to the synagogue.

There was only ONE religious institution in all 60,000 square miles of Canaan/Israel that God appointed as His Official Tithe Collection Agency. They were not to be taken to synagogues scattered throughout Canaan/Israel where the word of God was read…they were to be taken to the Temple in Jerusalem where sacrifices were offered. And the ONLY tribe in all of Canaan/Israel that was God’s duly authorized Tithe Collection Representatives were the bloodline descendants of the biblical patriarch Levi.

Contrast that with the claim made by thousands of pastors around the world today that their religious institutions are God’s Official Tithe Collection Agencies and that they are God’s Official Tithe Collection Representatives.

Who appointed these religious institutions as God’s Official Tithe Collection Agencies? Who appointed these pastors as God’s Official Tithe Collection Representatives? Such authority cannot be found anywhere in the pages of God’s holy word. The ONLY religious institution in the world that God ever named in all of History as His Official Tithe Collection Agency was the Temple in Jerusalem.

As a matter of fact, in the last place where tithes are mentioned in the Bible, (Hebrews 7:5-9) it says that the sons of Levi have the command to take tithes of their brethren “according to the Law”.

Hebrews 7:5-9 And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham: But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better. And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth. And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.

Nothing in the text of Hebrews 7 suggests a passing of the proverbial “baton.” Quite the opposite, the text goes on to reveal that the proverbial “baton” was dropped.

Hebrews 7:18 For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.

God didn’t expand His Tithe Collection Agency…He closed it. He didn’t hire new Tithe Collection Representatives…He gave the existing ones a Notice of Termination.

Do You Qualify?
by Ronald W Robey
(written March 11, 2018)

The preacher that teaches his congregation that God requires them to give Him a tenth of their monetary income is robbing all who believe and yield to his sermon.

Who qualifies to give God’s commanded tithe? The answer may surprise you.

a) First and foremost, in order to qualify to give God’s commanded tithe, you must be a physical descendant of the biblical Patriarch Jacob. Leviticus 27:30-34 reveals that God gave the instruction to tithe to the children of Israel. Psalms 147:19-20 reveal that the commands given to Israel were not given to any other nation.

b) In order to qualify to give God’s commanded tithe, God must have given you a portion of the land of Canaan as an inheritance. God’s commanded tithe is a result of Jacob’s vowing to give God that which God promised him. God promised to give land to Jacob and His descendants in Genesis 28:13-15. Jacob promised to give the tenth back to God. God required the children of Israel to give to Him that which was set apart for Him,… a tenth of the land of Canaan. (Deut. 12:10-11)

c) In order to qualify to give God’s commanded tithe, you must live in the land of Canaan. In Deuteronomy 6:1-3 and 12:1,10-11 we read that tithing was not to be observed until crossing Jordan and entering the land of Canaan. God did not want His holy (set apart) tithe to come from other geographical locations.

d) In order to qualify to give God’s commanded tithe, you must raise crops or breed livestock on that portion of the land of Canaan that you have been given as an inheritance. In Leviticus 27:30-33 we read that God said His holy tithe must come from agricultural crops, flocks, and herds. There is no command to tithe anything else than that which comes from agricultural crops, flocks, and herds from within the land of Canaan.

Who qualifies to receive God’s commanded tithe?

e) In order to qualify to receive God’s commanded tithe, one must be either a bloodline descendant from the Levitic tribe; a widow; an orphan; or a foreigner. (Num 18:21-26; Deut. 14:27-29; 26:12)

f) In order to qualify to receive God’s commanded tithe, one must have no land inheritance or be too poor to own land. (Num 18:21-26; Deut 14:27-29; 26:12)

g) In order to qualify to receive God’s commanded tithe, one must have a Priest from the bloodline of Aaron accompanying him at the time he receives tithes. If no Priest is present, he cannot collect God’s commanded tithe. (Neh 10:37-38)

If one attempts to tithe by any other means; in any other geographic location; or to any other people than what, where, and to whom God’s word decrees, that person is in direct contradiction to God’s tithe ordinance. If one attempts to collect tithes by any other means; in any other geographic location; or from any other people than what, where, and from whom God’s word decrees, that person is in direct contradiction to God’s tithe ordinance.

One cannot say that one is obedient to God in the tithe if one is not tithing in the manner that God’s word says that His tithe ordinance is to be observed.
