Three Irrefutable Truths

Numbers 18:21-28 And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation. Neither must the children of Israel henceforth come nigh the tabernacle of the congregation, lest they bear sin, and die. But the Levites shall do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they shall bear their iniquity: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they have no inheritance. But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them, When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the LORD, even a tenth part of the tithe. And this your heave offering shall be reckoned unto you, as though it were the corn of the threshingfloor, and as the fulness of the winepress. Thus ye also shall offer an heave offering unto the LORD of all your tithes, which ye receive of the children of Israel; and ye shall give thereof the LORD’S heave offering to Aaron the priest.

Nehemiah 10:29 They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;

Nehemiah 10:37-38 And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage. And the priest the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take tithes: and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes unto the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house.

Three irrefutable truths concerning God’s tithe can be gleaned from Numbers 18:21-28 and Nehemiah 10:29,37-38. Those truths are:

1. The congregation is forbidden by God to tithe to the House of God. (how far pastors have strayed from that truth)

This is a truth that pastors do not want their congregations to know. But it is biblical truth nonetheless.

Seated in the context of the Levite receiving tithes of the children of Israel, is the admonition that the children of Israel are not to approach the Tabernacle (also known as “the House of God”; see Judges 18:31) So, we know the eleven tribes that inherited land in Canaan were not to take their tithes to the House of God.

Need more proof? Let’s go to Nehemiah, shall we?

In Nehemiah 10:29, the Israelites vow to “walk in God’s Law. which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;”

Remember, the Law said that the children of Israel were not to approach the Tabernacle (the House of God) with their tithes.

In Nehemiah 10:37-38, we see that those who vowed to return to the Law affirm that the congregation (aka the children of Israel) were to keep the tithe “in the cities of our tillage”, (farming communities) for the Levites to collect there. Again, they were not to take the tithes to the House of God…they were to keep them in their farming communities.

2. Only bloodline descendants of the biblical patriarch Levi are required by God to tithe to the House of God.

As the aforementioned passage in Nehemiah states, the Levites were to collect tithes from the congregation and then take a tithe of the tithes that they receive to the House of God. The tithe of the tithe represented the entire agricultural increase. (see Numbers 18:21-28)

3. A Priest from the bloodline of the biblical patriarch Aaron must be present at the time tithes are given. (Is there a biological descendant of Aaron the Priest in our churches today?)

Nehemiah 10:37-38 clearly states that “the Priest, the son of Aaron, shall be with the Levites when the Levites take tithes.”

Pastors today have no business taking tithes of anyone unless they are a bloodline descendant of the biblical patriarch Levi and have a bloodline descendant of the biblical patriarch Aaron with them at the time they receive the tithes.

The doctrine that “tithes are to be brought to your local church” being taught in many mainstream churches around the world today is not only totally foreign to the pages of God’s word…

…the doctrine contradicts God’s word.

I challenge you to walk in truth and to forsake the dark path of deceit that your pastors have had you walking on.
