Unfaithful Offenders

Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Many churchgoers have memorized Malachi 3:10 and can quote it verbatim because their pastors have read the verse to them every Sunday Morning Service for years. However, few churchgoers can recite Malachi 3:7 from memory.

Malachi 3:7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

Now, many churchgoers testify that they obey Malachi 3:10 today. But they do not. How do I know? Because the Bible reveals to me that they do not.

The apostle James wrote in his epistle, “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

Notice that James reveals that those who keep the whole Law, if they fail to keep one point of the Law, they are guilty of not keeping the Law at all. This tells us that the Law, (all 613 commandments, torts, and statutes) is one indivisible unit. Many try to divide it and section it in three separate unites; civil, moral, and social. But James makes no such distinction. He says that if you offend in one point of the Law, you are guilty of all the Law.

Back to Malachi…

In Malachi 3:7, God called for a return to His ordinances. This means that the observance of Malachi 3:10 must be governed by the ordinances of God. So what does Gods tithe ordinance say?

1. Gods tithe ordinance says that Gods tithe is to be agricultural crops, flocks, and herds. (see Lev. 27:30,32)This means that if you are taking a tenth of your money to the House of God as tithe, you are offending in that one point of the Law and are therefore guilty of all the Law. It is just as if you never dropped a tithe in the collection plate at all!

2. Gods tithe ordinance said that the congregation is to take their tithes to Jerusalem. (see Deuteronomy 12:10-11; 2 Chronicles 6:5-6)This means that if you are a member of the congregation and are taking your tithe to a church in your city that is not Jerusalem, you are offending in that one point of the Law and are therefore guilty of all the Law. It is just as if you never dropped a tithe in the collection plate at all!

3. Gods tithe ordinances says that the congregation is not to even go near the House of God with their tithes. (see Numbers 18:21-22; Nehemiah 10:29,37-38) This means that if you, as a member of the congregation, are taking yoru tithes to the House of God, you are offending in that one point of the Law and are therefore guilty of all the Law. It is just as if you never dropped a tithe in the collection plate at all!

4. Gods tithe ordinance says that the only ministerial staff that the congregation is to give their tithes to are bloodline descendants of the biblical patriarch Levi. (see Numbers 18:21-26; Nehemiah 10:29,37-38)

This means that if you are giving your tithes to ministerial staff that are not bloodline descendants of the biblical patriarch Levi, you are offending in that one point of the Law and are therefore guilty of all the Law. It is just as if you never dropped a tithe in the collection plate at all!

But you say, “We are not under the Law, but under Grace! Therefore, we gave give tithes to anyone we wish.”

Can you? The truth is, if you are tithing because Malachi 3:10 says to “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehosue,” then you have placed yourself in the House of the Law and are indeed under the Law. Remember, Malachi 3:10 is governed by the Law as recorded in Malahci 3:7.

Galatians 5:4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

You are trying to justify tithing using verses that are governed by the Law and are therefore judged by the Law……you have fallen from Grace.

And because you are offending in that one point of the Law and are therefore guilty of all the Law. It is just as if you never dropped a tithe in the collection plate at all!

But you will still be judged by the very Law you are attempting to observe.

Romans 7:3 So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

Those who are married to Christ have no business in the House of the Law. When they live in the House of the Law while married to Christ, they are committing spiritual adultery……they are unfaithful to Christ.

Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
