Settled in My Heart

Psalm 119:89 LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. In Leviticus 27:30,32 God said His tithe is to be agricultural. It is settled.

In Leviticus 27:34 God said that He gave the command to tithe to Moses for the children of Israel. It is settled.

In Numbers 18:21 God said the tithe is to be given to the Levitic tribe because they have no inheritance among the other eleven tribes of Israel. It is settled.

In Numbers 18:22 God said the congregation is not even to go near the House of God with their tithes. Nehemiah 10:29,37-38 re-affirms this command. It is settled.

In Deuteronomy 12:10-11 God said that the place to take tithes would be a place in the land of Canaan that He would choose. In 2 Chronicles 6:5-6 we learn that the place God chose was the city of Jerusalem. It is settled.

In Deuteronomy 14:22-26 God said that a second tithe is to be taken to Jerusalem and eaten before the Lord. It is settled.

In Deuteronomy 14:27 God said not to fail to give the Levite his tithe. It is settled.

In Deuteronomy 14:28-29 God said to give a tithe to Levites, to widows, to orphans, and to foreigners in the land of Canaan every third year. It is settled.

In Deuteronomy 26:12-17 God said to give a tithe to Levites, to widows, to orphans, and to foreigners in the land of Canaan every third year. It is settled.

Not once in the word of God does God tell man to give Him tithes of his monetary income.

God’s word is for ever settled in Heaven. It is also for ever settled in my heart. Is it settled in your heart? or have you rejected it?

They Don’t Believe God’s Word

Read the account of Abraham giving tithes to Melchizedek in Genesis 14:13-24 carefully. As you read the account, ask yourself the following questions:

1. Does the text of Genesis 14 say that God commanded Abraham to tithe?

2. Does the text of Genesis 14 say that Abraham was commanded by God to tithe money?

3. Does the text of Genesis 14 say that Abraham tithed money?

4. Does the text of Genesis 14 say that Abraham tithed his own property and/or assets?

If you are honest with the text and the questions, you will answer “NO” to all four questions. The Bible does not record a command to tithe until God gives that command to the children of Israel in Leviticus 27:30-34…

…and the commanded tithe is to be agricultural, not monetary.

Not only does the Bible not say that Abraham was commanded by God to give Melchizedek monetary tithes, but the Bible does not say that God commanded the children of Israel to give Him monetary tithes. Further, the Bible does not say that the saved in Christ Jesus are required to give Him tithes of money.

It appears that teachers of the monetary tithe requirement have their audiences believing anything but Gods word when it comes to the topic of tithes.
