Question: “Can I give God’s tithe to people in need on the street? Or does God’s tithe have to be taken to my local church building?”

Answer: God laid specific guidelines out in the Bible as to how His commanded tithe is to be observed.

First and foremost, His tithe is to be agricultural. Leviticus 27:30,32

Secondly, those who are required by God to tithe are to move to the land of Canaan. Deuteronomy 12:10-11

Thirdly, the majority of people that God commanded to tithe are not to take their tithe to the House of God, but are to give their tithe to the Levitic tribe. (note: a person can only be a Levite by being born a biological descendant of the biblical patriarch Levi) Only the Levitic tribe was commanded by God to tithe to the House of God. Numbers 18:21-22; Nehemiah 10:29,37-38

It was only every third year that God said tithes are to be given to people who were not Levites. (yes, they were to give tithes to the Levite as well) Deuteronomy 14:28-29; 26:12-17

Giving a tenth (tithe) of your money is not obedience to God in the tithe. Giving tithes in your church building that is not in the land of Canaan is not obedience to God in the tithe. Giving tithes on a street outside of Canaan is not obedience to God in the tithe.

In order to obey God in the tithe, one must follow the guidelines governing the observance of God’s commanded tithe that God set forth in His word. To attempt to obey God in the tithe but not follow the guidelines God set forth in His word is actually failure at obeying God in the tithe.

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
