Unwise and Dangerous

The Epistle to the Hebrews says nothing of a monetary tithe. It only mentions

a) a tithe of war spoils; which included food, articles of clothing, and people.
b) a tithe of agricultural increase.

Nor does the Epistle to the Hebrews say anything about Pastors receiving tithes on behalf of God. It only mentions

a) Melchizedek receiving tithes
b) the Levites receiving tithes

Nor does the Epistle to the Hebrews speak of the saved in Christ giving tithes. It only mentions

a) Abraham giving tithes to Melchizedek
b) Brethren of the Levites giving tithes to the Levites

One has to add to the word of God to preach that the Book of Hebrews teaches that the saved in Christ are required to tithe their money to the religious institution they attend or are members of. A very unwise and dangerous doctrine.

Proverbs 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

2 Corinthians 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;
2 Corinthians 4:2 But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
