Free Indeed

Jesus Christ once said concerning those who are the servants of sin,, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” (see John 8:34-36)

Jesus Christ also said in the same Book and Chapter, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)

Notice that Jesus said, “MAKE you free,” and not, “set you free.” There is a difference. Allow me to explain the difference…

After professing faith in Christ in 1979 and joining myself to a local church body, I heard the doctrine preached and taught that God required me to give Him 10% of my money.

It was not until 1988 that I sat down and actually studied all the Scriptures on tithing in the Bible for myself, that I learned that God never commanded monetary tithes from anyone. His commanded tithe was to be agriculture and was only required of the children of Israel. (see Leviticus 27:30-34)

It was at that moment that I was made free…not set free…from the bondage that the monetary tithe requirement teaching pastor had me in. Had I just been set free, I might have been deceived by the crafty words of a teacher of the monetary tithe requirement lie and begun yielding to the lie all over again.

But since the biblical text MADE me free, I can never be tricked into believing the lie of the monetary tithe requirement ever again.

Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

I believe the Son can make those who are servants to sin free indeed. I also believe that the Bible can make those who are servants of the monetary tithe requirement teaching pastor free indeed.
