Malachi’s Tithe

Wake up Saints!

Malachi is not calling for people to emulate Abraham in tithing, i.e go to war; kill wicked kings; gather any goods that the wicked kings may have stolen from other kingdoms; take the recovered goods to an open valley where kings meet; give a tenth of those recovered goods to the king of your choice, and give the remainder of the recovered goods back to their original kingdoms.

Nor is Malachi calling for people to observe the tithe preached in your local church assembly, i.e tithes of any monies you might earn through hard labor; tithes of any monies you might receive as a gift; tithes of any monies you might find on the ground; or tithes of any monies you might receive as a bonus from your place of employment.

Malachi 3:7 is calling for a return to God’s Ordinances.

Malachi 3:7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

Since Malachi is calling for a return to God’s Ordinances, the tithe required in Malachi 3:10 can be none other than the tithe that God requires in His ordinances. (to call for any other type of tithe than what is required in the ordinances of God would be transgressing the Ordinances, not returning to them. The tithes required in God’s ordinances are strictly agriculture.

Leviticus 27:30 And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’S: it is holy unto the LORD.
Leviticus 27:32 And concerning the tithe of the herd, or of the flock, even of whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.

Conclusion: It is nothing short of dishonesty for a pastor to use the text of Malachi 3:10 as “proof-text” for a monetary tithe requirement. Stop allowing your money to be extorted through the monetary tithe requirement lie.If you want to give to God, then give. But don’t believe the lie that, “You are not giving if you don’t first give the tithe.”

2 Corinthians 9:6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 8:12 For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
2 Corinthians 8:13 For I mean not that other men be eased, and ye burdened:
